Tally Ho
While walking the dog by The Park at the north grounds I spotted a critter off in the distance. It looked dog-like from afar, so I looked around to see if there was an owner about. Didn't see any people. Took another look since the critter was in a spot where I normallly don't see any critters. Just about then it popped up, turned tail and slunk off into the woods. Lo and behold it was a fox. I decided I'd leave the woods and the woodland trail to the wildlife today and just took the dog for a stroll around the track. It seemed like a good day to play it safe.

Foxes are very shy, and not usually seen. Except if they're rabid, of course; never pet a friendly fox, rabbit, or raccoon.
I came very close to a red fox one morning in a campground. I was headed to the facility, along a path through the woods, and just as I came to a crossing path, a fox walked right in front of me, maybe three feet away. He looked at me, very startled, and I assume I was looking at him the same way. We did a five-second staredown, then he decided I was harmless, squared his shoulders, and walked on. I guess I'm just not the menacing type.
Believe me, I didn't want to have anything to do with the critter. I made sure Champ stayed blissfully oblivious - which is altogether too easy considering he's a hunting dog.
